Thank you for visiting my 2017 Promise Walk for Preeclampsia fundraising page.
I am SO grateful for your donations AND for your help in spreading the word about preeclampsia. This something near and dear to my heart : )
MY STORY: Sweet Eliana Pearl was born five weeks premature due to my severe-preeclampsia, which then turned into postpartum preeclampsia. Our little boo-boo was born at 35 weeks weighing 5 lbs. 1oz. and 19 inches. It was a very scary time for me, my boyfriend Jason and our families. My blood pressure the day they induced me was 190/100, and luckily I was already at the hospital for a scheduled stress test, because once they did some blood work to look at my platelet counts and protein levels, it was determined I was not going home. For my health and for my daughter's, she needed to make her arrival - no question. Thankfully due to the excellent care both Eliana and I received at UPMC Mercy, along with the prenatal care from my doctors, Mama and Dada were able to go home three days later, WITH a 4 lb. 9 oz. sweet girl. The doctor's prepared us for her to be staying in the NICU for a few days, so the fact that both Eliana and I left the hospital on the same day - it was a blessing for which I will ALWAYS be grateful. She truly was a special little baby, who is a healthy and growing, strong-willed, loving and special toddler! Miss Eliana is, in-fact, without a doubt - the Boss Lady :)
My road with preeclampsia, however, didn't end there, as I developed postpartum preeclampsia about ten days later. Over the next year I realized you're more predisposed to things like metabolic syndrome, eye problems, and sleep apnea, just to name a few. Being in the care of great doctors in a great medical community has made a difference!
Many people don't know about preeclampsia or the lifelong effects. My goal is to help our community raise funds and awareness and save the lives of moms and babies!
Please make a donation to support our efforts to fund education and research into this life-threatening disorder of pregnancy. Team Boss Lady would love to walkers. If you'd like to join us on July 15, 2017 - click Join Our Team!! We'll see you at the North Park Boathouse!
