I am writing to request your support for the 2018 Central and Northern NJ area Promise Walk for Preeclampsia on 5/20/2018. My family and I have been participating in the walk since 2015, in memory of our daughter Charlotte. In 2017, I served as an assistant walk coordinator and we shared Charlotte’s story at the walk as the mission family. Please follow the link below to watch the video from the 2017 NJ Promise Walk (mission family speech begins around 20minutes).
Preeclampsia is a serious condition that develops during or immediately following pregnancy, affects around 8% of pregnancies, and is characterized by symptoms such as high blood pressure, seizures, and liver/kidney damage. Preeclampsia is a leading cause of maternal and infant illness and death. The cause is still unknown at this time and the only cure is premature delivery of the infant. Due to life threatening Preeclampsia symptoms during my pregnancy, Charlotte was born when I was only 5 months pregnant and was not able to survive on her own. We are grateful to have since had our son, Tre, who was born without any symptoms of Preeclampsia.
We continue to be active participants of this Walk because we support the foundation’s mission for research and education to prevent the potentially fatal outcomes of this disorder. Over the past three years our team, Remembering Charlotte, has been successful in raising over $10,000 to support the cause through individual donations and sponsorships. Since the NJ walk began eight years ago, we have a record of being one of the top 5 walks throughout the country every year and reaching or surpassing our fundraising goal.
From local businesses, our family is requesting sponsorships at the Making Strides level which will provide your business with recognition on the walk t-shirts, website, and more. In addition, there is also a gift auction on the day of the walk and we are accepting donations of various prizes. In Kind and other contributions are also appreciated. Please email me for sponsorship information.
We are grateful for the Preeclampsia foundations efforts and support which has allowed myself and my son Tre to be healthy; however, we will forever be missing a piece of our family and are appreciative of the opportunity to remember our daughter Charlotte at the walk this year. From our family and all other families affected by Preeclampsia, thank you in advance for your support.
