Thank you for visiting my 2017 Promise Walk for Preeclampsia fundraising page.
Nick and I got pregnant with our son, Ben, in 2014. We were delighted and nervous! We knew pregnancy and parenthood would be a challenge, but we faced additional complications. With a history of hypertension, I was already presenting with a 50% risk of developing preeclampsia during my pregnancy. Despite a close watch and lots of labetalol, I presented with preeclampsia symptoms and was hospitalized on March 18, 2015. I was only 32 weeks.
Ben was born on March 20 at 11:50pm by urgent c-section, 7 hours before the planned c-section. He was only 3 pounds, 1 ounce, but perfect. We were lucky. We were watching and waiting for this illness, and we knew what to look for. But other families aren't so lucky.
I tell my story at pressurestory.com, a blog and resource for preeclampsia and maternal mental health. But this is about the mamas, babies, and families who need the help I already had.
I am grateful for your donations and for your help in spreading the word about preeclampsia. My goal is to help our community raise funds and awareness and save the lives of moms and babies!
Please make a donation to support our efforts to fund education and research into this life-threatening disorder of pregnancy.
