Team Moore

Preeclampsia research is a cause very near and dear to our families hearts. It has tried more than once to take my life, and the lives of both of my daughters.  But by God's will, and the research that has been done so far, our lives were spared.

There are so many women and babies who aren't so fortunate.

Preeclampsia causes dangerously high blood pressure levels, seizures, strokes, and premature birth, just to name a few things.  It can also cause long-lasting, or even life long effects on the mother and baby. I now have high blood pressure because of Preeclampsia, and have double the risk of having a heart attack or stroke. Not to mention the emotional toll that was caused from such traumatic experiences.  Since the birth of Samantha, I have begun experiencing extreme anxiety, mostly centered around health, and panic attacks. I can only connect this as a result of experiencing such traumatic situations.

Ondraya was born 8 weeks early, only weighing 3 pounds.  She stayed in the NICU at Shands for 5 weeks, and was on medicine for her heart for the first year of her life.

Samantha was born 9 weeks early, only weighing 2 pounds, (and less after birth!), and was a resident of Shands NICU for 6 weeks.

My daughters are also at risk of developing Preeclampsia when they go on to have families of their own.

I am pushing for as much research on this disease as possible, so maybe by the time they have children, they won't have to worry about Preeclampsia, and won't be robbed of having normal pregnancies.
