Two Bluebirds

Thank you for visiting our team page! We are excited to "make strides and deliver hope" for families affected by preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome and other hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

The Promise Walk hits home for countless families around the world, including our own.

In December of 2012, I was 37 weeks pregnant with my oldest son, Emmet, when I was diagnosed with severe preeclampsia at a routine OB appointment. Immediately following my diagnosis, the decision was made to induce labor and deliver him as soon as possible. Typically recovery begins after giving birth, however that was not the case for me - I developed life-threatening postpartum HELLP syndrome and was hospitalized for a total of 6 days. Years later, in February of 2017, I was 30 weeks into my second pregnancy with my youngest son Declan, when I was diagnosed with severe gestational hypertension. Although my complications started much earlier that time, they did not progress past the initial diagnosis and he was delivered on my scheduled induction date at 37 weeks gestation.

Thankfully, both of my kids were born healthy, and I made a full recovery each time. However, humility consistently reminds me there are unnumbered women and children affected by these pregnancy complications who do not have the happy ending we were fortunate to have.

We are immensely grateful for your donations and for your help in spreading the word.
