Paul You Need Is Love

Our Story

Two days before we closed on our first house in October 2016 Jennifer discovered she was pregnant and due with her first child Paul in June 2017.  Family was very excited because this was to be the first grandchild on both sides.  A very healthy pregnancy continued until the start of the third trimester gave a diagnosis of gestational diabetes.

On April 18th Jennifer had an OB appointment which showed protein in her urine and an elevated blood pressure.  She was sent home to do the 24 hour urine collection to see if she had preeclampsia.  Later that night she felt tired and took a nap on the couch.

After midnight on April 19th Jennifer's back started to hurt so she got a bath, which did not help.  After several calls to the OB her water broke and there was a lot of blood.  JD rushed Jennifer to the hospital.

Once at the maternity ward they could not find a heartbeat and the ultrasound confirmed at 31 weeks and 5 days that Paul was stillborn and that a placental abruption was the cause.  Jennifer was hemorrhaging and rushed to the OR for a caesarian.  Thankfully she did not need a blood transfusion or progress into eclampsia or have HELLP syndrome.

When Jennifer woke up in recovery she learned the baby was a boy and she had severe preeclampsia, which caused the abruption.  It took 6 weeks of medication for Jennifer's high blood pressure issues to resolve.
