Our beautiful daughter was born on February 19, 2018 at 37 weeks gestation. We had a regular doctors appointment one Wednesday afternoon, and everything seemed to be pretty routine. The next day we received a phone call from our doctors office, where they had found a high level of protein in my urine. They asked us to come to the hospital to have blood work and a growth ultrasound done because they thought I had developed preeclampsia. We were discharged from the hospital that Thursday afternoon and placed on bed rest. Our daughter was delivered 4 days later early Monday morning via emergency C-Section. We welcomed our beautiful baby girl into the world, but we still had a few hurdles to overcome before we could be sent home. Due to severe swelling, high blood pressure and a lot of blood loss during labor, we had to stay in the hospital for a week. After a clear EKG and stomach X-ray, we were ordered a CT scan to rule out blood clots in my lungs. Thankfully the scan came back normal! Finally after a successful blood transfusion we were discharged and sent home on blood pressure medicine. Preeclampsia normally subsides after delivery but mine hung around for an additional month. My preeclampsia came on so quick and strong, in a matter of 5 days we went from normal pregnancy, to preeclampsia, to emergency C-Section. We participate in the Promise Walk to help raise awareness about preeclampsia, so future mother's, father's, babies and families may not have to go through what we did. So please donate to the Preeclampsia Foundation to help further research for this terrible disease. I know Mila and our family appreciate every donation and prayer! Thank you from the Bishop family!
